Hafner, 73, of Ionia, died Jan. 3 in the Ionia Manor. Born in Hillman on March 18, 1912, she was the daughter of Joseph and Anna McLeod Carrier. She attended Hillman schools and later was employed by General Motors in Flint. She moved to Ionia in 1950. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. She is survived by her husband Clarence; two sons, Harvey of Rudyard and Gordon of Fenwick; a daughter, Mrs. Ray (JoAnn) Chase; nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren; a brother, Victor Carrier, of Ionia; and a sister, Mary Egle, of Mio. Funeral services will be Monday at 1 p.m. from the St. John’s Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Theodore Voll officiating. A grandson, Alan Hafner, will serve as church organist. Burial will be in Balcom Cemetery. A memorial was established for St. John’s Lutheran Church, in care of Montgomery-Leddick Funeral Home, which made arrangements.
