Haight passed on to the better land at 4:45 o’clock on Tuesday afternoon, at age of 69 years, death taking place at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Frank J. Hoar, 310 Pleasant St. Deceased had been in poor health for some years, and quite feeble most of the year past. He and Mrs. Haight went to Grand Rapids last November and spent the winter in the family of their children, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Everest, and in February went to Detroit, spending three months in the family of their children, Dr. and Mrs. Ellsworth Haight, returning to Ionia two weeks ago, going to the home of their children Mr. and Mrs. Hoar, their home on North Jefferson street being in the hands of the carpenters for remodeling. Besides the bereaved wife, seven children and twelve grand-children survive. The children are: Miss Loessa, Wallace, Sarah (Mrs. Frank J. Hoar,) and Chandler J., all of Ionia, Susie (Mrs. Herbert Everest of Grand Rapids,) Dr. Lee Haight of Bellevue, and Dr. Ellsworth Haight of Detroit. Mr. Haight was born in Saratoga county, New York, and came to Michigan, direct to Ionia, when he was 21 years old. He was married to Hannah Moore, in Ionia, 46 years ago. One brother, Elmer Haight, who lives near Hubbardston, also survives. Funeral from the home where he died, on Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock, with interment in Highland Park.
