Haight committed suicide in the back yard of his home where he lived alone early Monday morning. Neighbors were reported to have heard the blast of the gun but failed to investigate, Mr Delbert Meyers whose backyard adjoins that of Mr Haight, went out to burn some papers in a backyard incinerator and saw the body of the deceased. Coroner Harry Myers of Ionia and Deputy Richard Bartlett of Lake Odessa were called and gave the cause of death as self-inflicted gunshot wounds. Born in Ohio, May 3, 1869, Mr.Haight had been a farmer in Campbell township for many years until a few years ago when he retired and moved into Lake Odessa.He had cataracts of both eyes and had been in poor health for a number of years. He leaves five sons, Carlisle, Galien, and Clyde of Detroit, Percy of Clarksville and Arlie of Lansing; and two daughters, Thera and Pauline of Lansing. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 o'clock at the Pickens Chapel. Burial was at Lakeside cemetery.
