Lake Odessa, Feb.15,1892
We the citizens of Lake Odessa.
Whereas:death has taken from our midst our beloved brother, friend and neighbor, 
Stephen Haight and while we mourn deeply the great loss we sustain. The death of 
one so well and favorably known. And in honor of him who stood by the stars and 
stripes during the hour of peril and for many acts for kindness, charity and 
true manhood known to this community during his whole life, we would 
respectfully ask that the American flag be hung at half mast during the day and 
that all the business places in our village be closed from one o'clock pm until 
three o'clock on Wednesday Feb.17,1892.
