The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Monday, December 14, 1925

Russell Hale, 22, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hale, of Portland, died 
Saturday afternoon at Blodgett hospital, Grand Rapids, after a long illness.  
He was a junior in Michigan State college.  While a student in Portland high 
school he made an enviable record as an athlete, and while his poor health 
kept him from accomplishing much of this line at the college, he made his 
numerals in football and basket ball.

He is survived, besides his parents, by two sisters, Gertrude and Lucille.
