Hale, age 77, lost his battle with C.O.P.D.at the V.A. Medical Center in Battle Creek where he received the best of care. A millionaire could not have been cared for any better. Such caring. He was born April 22, 1932 to Lesley and Mary (Dillenbeck) Hale - a sixth generation Ionia County resident. He married the former Renee Winright and they quietly celebrated 50 years together, Oct. 15, 2009. Fred worked at Keeler Brass, Integral Engineers Doehlar-Jarvis and Blough Buffing. He spent four years in the US Navy - part of that time on the USS Missouri during the Korean War. He was a longtime beekeeper and apple grower and took pride in making good cider. He is survived by his wife and three sons, Michael (special friend Deb), Daniel and Lonny (Kristin); grandchildren, John, Hannah, Aiden and Airen Hale - eighth generation in Ionia County; brothers and sisters, James (Mitsuko), Sharlene (Duane) Kauffman and Connie Satterlie; sister-in-law Carole Hale and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lesley and Mary and his brother Donald. He requested no funeral or memorial. Cremation is taking place. There will be a private Interment at a later date.
