With the exception of a few years during which he lived in Grand Ledge, most of his life was spent among his friends in the town of his birth. In March, 1878, he was married to Miss Amelia Boyce at Rockford, and to them were born two children; Kenneth, whose present residence is Lansing, and Ethel, who died in Grand Ledge, August 24, 1903. He has for years been a Christian man and faithful member of the Methodist Episcopal church in Lyons. After a prolonged illness, extending over a period of nearly four years, during which time there were periods of great suffering, he was called to his heavenly home. He will be missed by his many friends, and the church and community enter into sympathy with his beloved wife and son, sister and brother. Funeral services were held from the home Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 26, conducted by Rev. Chas. Nease of the local M.E. church. Vocal solos were sung by F.M. Strong, and the bearers were old friends of deceased: E.S. Fuller, V.F. Upton, J.E. Mills, H.A. Ranger, W.C. Hawley, F.M. Strong. Interment was made in the family lot in Lyons cemetery beside an only daughter. The following were from out of town to attend the funeral: Burgess Robinson, Mrs. Thos. Stevenson, Mrs. Griffin, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Vosper, Ionia; Mrs. Nettie Todd, Carson City; Mrs. McLouth of New York City; Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Boyce, Mr. and Mrs. P.J. McCormack and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Taylor, Grand Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Omer Kohst and son, Mr. and Mrs. T.E. Vallean, E.E. Vallean, Guy Vallean, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Hall, Lansing.
