Hall, 87, vice president of Belding Savings and Loans, died August 12 at Belding Community hospital where he had been a patient for several weeks. He lived at 210 S. Broas St. Born in Hastings, January 9, 1878 to Diana Bryant and Mathew Hall, he was in the hardware business in Hastings for 3½ years before coming to Belding in 1907. On November 6, 1907 he married the former Elizabeth Field who died in 1958. They observed their golden wedding anniversary the year before. In Belding, Mr. Hall served as mayor from 1913 to 1915, was on the school board and active in civic and public affairs. He was a furniture store co-owner and mortician with A. L. Cichy for 50 years on Main St., and also a partner in a Greenville Furniture Store for several years. A member of First Congregational church where he served on the council and various church boards, Mr. Hall was a life member of Belding Lodge 355 F. & A.M. DeWitt-Clinton Consistory 32nd degree and Saladin Temple Shrine. His survivors include one son, Frederich M. Hall, Gladwin; one sister, Mrs. Clara Toogood, Kansas City; one brother, Will Hall, Hastings; three grandsons, Adelbert C. Hall, Muskegon, Donald F. Hall, Midland, Douglas C. Hall, Gladwin; one granddaughter, Miss Susan L. Hall, Gladwin; several great grandchildren. Memorial services were held Saturday evening at Huffman Funeral Home by Belding Lodge 355 F & AM. Funeral services were held at the Funeral Home Sunday afternoon with the Rev. Earl F. Collins, interim pastor of First Congregational church officiating. Burial was in River Side cemetery, Hastings. Pallbearers were Laurence Hodge, Glenn Wortley, John Wilson, John Stahlin, Ward Blunt and Arthur B. Johnson.
