Born on May 31st, 1939 on the family farm in Portland, MI, Jerry was a son of the late Ellsworth and Ethel (Raymond) Hall. Jerry attended Lake Odessa High School (MI) before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps and was honorably discharged in 1962. On May 25th, 1963 Jerry married Betty Lou (Hoppough) of Ionia, MI at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ionia. Jerry was best known as being the owner and operator of Jerry Hall’s Septic Service for 30 years. Jerry was a man of many traits, including being a local farmer and devoted family man who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and trapping. Jerry’s greatest joy in life came from his children and grand children. He was a member of the VFW in Saranac, MI, American Legion, and the National Rifle Association. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Betty, of Eckerman. Children: Benjamin (Kellie), of Saranac, Jerome II (Gretchen) of Eckerman, and Betty Jo (Justin) Ford currently stationed in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba with the United States Navy. Grand children: Benjamin Hall (United States Marine Corps, SC), Mason and Katie Hall of Saranac, Autumn and Jessie Hall of Eckerman, Madison Ford of Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and Paige, Bryce, and Jenna Ford of Bristol, WI. Also surviving are Jerry’s siblings Joanne Speas of Cross Junction, Virginia, John (Pat) Hall of Barryton, MI, Ethel Espinoza of Pueblo, Colorado, Kathryn Bevan of Shepherd, MI, and Susan (Joe) Tafoya of Pueblo, Colorado. A memorial grave-side service will be held at Balcom Cemetery in Ionia, MI on September 2nd, 2006 at 1:00 pm with a luncheon to follow at the Auto Salvage Auction located at 8460 South State Rd.
