Ionia County News, 12 May 1932

Mrs. Arthur Hall, 78, a pioneer resident of Ionia, died at her home 415 Jones
St., Sunday morning, May 8, following a heart attack.  Matilda Melissa Martin,
daughter of Andrew and Lenora Martin, was born in Welland, Ont., Nov. 15, 1853,
and came to Michigan in early childhood.  On February 22, 1872, she was united
in marriage with Arthur Hall.  Mr. Hall died in 1929.  In February, 1870, Mrs.
Hall united with the Church of Christ and she has been a faithful and valued
member of the church for 62 years.

Surviving her are three sons Ralph and Roy of Ionia, and Herbert of Chicago.  An
only daughter died in 1900.  Funeral services were held from the home at 1:30
Tuesday afternoon and from the Church of Christ at two o’clock.  Dr. Paul L.
Stewart officiated.  Burial in Highland Park cemetery.
