                    James David Halladay Jr.

James David Halladay Jr., 62, of Ionia passed away June 12, 2010, in Lowell. He 
was born June 24, 1947 in Bay City, the son of James and Winnifred (LaFrance) 
Halladay. James married Karen Heilman Sept. 11, 1971, in Ionia.She preceded him 
in death in 2005. He served int he Navy during Vietnam on theh USS Charles 
P.Cecil. James worked as a corrections officer fo 25 years until retiring in 
2002 as a SGT. He was a member of Saranac American Legion. He loved to travel, 
ride his motorcycle and enjoyed the U.P.

James is survived by his children, Kim (Alan) Slater of Lake Odessa, Tracy 
(Jeff) Leonard of Alto and Angela(Mike) Harder of Ionia; brothers, Craig 
Halladay fo Grand Rapids and Robert (Terry) Halladay of Orleans, sisters, Judy 
(Richard) DeYoung of Sand Lake and Marilu (Phillip) St.John of Ionia; mother-in-
law, Frances Heilman of Ionia; grandchildren, Thomas, Jamie, Cora, Megan,Hazel 
and Winnie; and special friend Jayne Schafer of St.Johns.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother Timothy and sister Kathy 
Haga.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia 
with Rev.Ken Harger officiating. Interment in River Ridge Cemetery. The family 
will receive friends and relatives noon to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the 
funeral home. Anyone wishing may make memorial contributions in James's name to
