She was born July 11, 1929, to Royal Sr. and Racie (Lepard) Haller at home in Lake Odessa, Michigan. She was valedictorian of her graduating class from Lake Odessa High School. She received her doctorate degree from Michigan State University in 1961. Lola taught in many schools including Algodon Country School in Lake Odessa. She went on to become the Dean of Women at Western University and Professor in the Educational Department of Houghton College of New York. Since her retirement she enjoyed reading to the students of West Elementary of Lake Odessa, serving as founding member of the Lake Odessa Community Library and a member of the First Families of Ionia County Society. She was an active member of First Congregational Church in Lake Odessa where she was an organist and on the diaconate board. She was also a member of West Berlin Wesleyan Church of Lake Odessa, Michigan, of which her father was a founder. Lola is survived by her niece, Shirley Lich of Portland, Michigan, and nephew Gary Haller of Lake Odessa, Michigan, many nieces and nephews and several special friends. She was preceded in death by father, Royal Haller Sr. and mother, Racie Haller, brothers, Royal Jr. Haller and Keith Haller. Visitation will be held at Koops Funeral Chapel in Lake Odessa, Michigan, on Sunday, April 19, 2015, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the First Congregational Church of Lake Odessa on Monday, April 20, 2015, at 11 a.m. Interment will take place at Lakeside Cemetery in Lake Odessa, Michigan. Memorial donations are suggested for the Lake Odessa Community Library or the First Congregational Church of Lake Odessa.
