Mr. Halstead was taken with a hard chill and later developed pneumonia, which caused his death. Mr. Halstead was born in 1843 and was at the time of death 80 years of age. He served during the days of the Civil war in Company B of the eighth Michigan infantry, entering the army service in 1862. Mr. Halstead was a member of the William H. Borden Post G.A.R., and also of the Masonic fraternity at Lyons. He is survived by his widow and five daughters.
