Darling, 418 N. Bridge street. Although her health had not been good for some time, she was ill only a week. As Mae Pearson, she was born at Blendon Landing in Ottawa county May 26, 1868. The family came to the city from a farm near Stanton nearly 50 years ago. About five years later her husband, Frank Darling, went to Alaska searching for gold and staked out a claim. It was here that he lost his life. For 25 years the widow worked in the alterations department at Lincoln’s store here. In 1924 she was married to Frank Halstead and he died a year later. Since then Mrs. Halstead had made her home with her son on N. Bridge street. Surviving besides the son J.P. Darling, is a niece, Miss Mary Pearson of Sidney, a daughter-in-law by marriage, Mrs. Margaret Halstead of Portland and several cousins. Funeral services were held at Fitzjohn’s Funeral home, Saturday at 3:30, Rev. H.S. Ellis officiating and burial was in the cemetery at Stanton. Pallbearers were Fred Font, Harold Clements, Ernest Allen, Louis Lincoln, Ernest Anderson and Ural Kenny.
