George Henry Hamblin, 82, of Ionia, passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2013,
surrounded by his family.  He was born on April 7, 1931, the son of Henry and
Irene (Treester) Hamblin.

Mr. Hamblin was a member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Ionia and a
veteran of the U.S. Air Force.  He was a past Exalted Ruler of the Ionia Elk
Lodge, and a member of the Knights of Columbus in Ionia.  George worked at
Hitachi Magnetics Corp. in Edmore for 29 years.  He enjoyed golfing and
socializing with numerous friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his first wife, Mary Lou, in 1974;
daughter, Amy Gibbs; granddaughter, Erin Hamblin; brother, Richard Hamblin.

Surviving are his wife, Esther Hamblin; children, Jody (Mike) Randall of Edmore,
Lynn (Rick) Bandfield of Edmore, David (Lori) Sallek of Lansing, Jill McLees of
Orleans, Chris Sallek of Ann Arbor, Mark (Rebecca) Hamblin of Winn, and Gail
Hamblin of Edmore; grandchildren, Courtney and Josh Gibbs, Nick Kost, Kristen
Hamblen, Chad Sloan, Jade McLees, Morgan and Nathan Bandfield, Alix (Sam)
Miller, Baylee Miller, Mike (Mandy) White, Jessica (Michael) Randall and Tara
(Mike) Doty; five great-grandchildren.

The Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 27,
with the Rev. Thomas Boufford Presiding.  Rite of Committal will take place at a
later date in Balcom Cemetery, Ionia.  The family will receive friends from 5 to
8 p.m. Friday at Lehman Funeral Homes, 220 Rich St., Ionia.  A scriptural wake
service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday.  For those desiring, memorial
contributions may be made to Ionia Area Hospice, in memory of George.
