George was born Aug. 5, 1860, and until 1876 he was a stout, hearty and robust boy. At that time, he was taken with bleeding of the lungs, and had a severe time of it. But this difficulty was overcome and he regained his usual health. After a time he became a little careless, and was again taken with the lung difficulty. He then came to Belding, thinking that the change from city to country life would be beneficial to him. He took charge of R.T. Hambrook & Co.’s books at their factory here, and continued as their bookkeeper until failing health caused him to return home in the early part of December last. He was next to the youngest of a family of five children. The literary society at this place have reason to mourn his loss, for he was an earnest worker in its welfare from its organization until his return to Chicago. George leaves a large circle of friends in Belding, as his upright and manly principles were proof of his goodness of heart.
