Richard L. Hamilton Sr., 54, of Orleans, passed away suddenly Friday morning, 
February 20, 2004, at Ionia County Memorial Hospital in Ionia.  He was born 
June 28, 1949 in Lansing, the son of Loren C. and Margaret (Castle) Hamilton.

He was a member of the Michigan Corrections Organization and served his 
country in the Vietnam War. Richard was married on August 19, 1967 in Ionia to 
Rosemary Dowdell and she survives along with her children, Debbie and Jeff 
Sharpe of Ionia, Richard Loren Hamilton Jr., of Hastings, Lori Reid, Nakai 
Hamilton, Chris Hamilton and Margaret Fifield, all of Orleans.
Richard is also survived by 17 grandchildren, two sisters, Betty and Ron 
Jackson of Hersey, Debra and Terry Pallick of Ionia, and his brother, Terry 
Hamilton of Morley.  He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, 
Gordon Landis, Devon Hamilton, and David McCain; one sister, Val Talbert, a 
son-in-law, Edward Reid and one grandson, Chad Fifield.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place.  Memorial services will 
be 11 a.m. Monday at Shiloh Community Church with Pastor Kendall Harger 
officiating.  Interment will be in the spring in Orleans Cemetery.  No 
visitation will be held. A luncheon will follow the service at the church.  
Memorial contributions may be given to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 
#4406, Belding.  Funeral services are entrusted to the Johnson-Feuerstein 
Funeral Home, Belding.
