Hamilton died at 7:00 o'clock Friday evening, at his home on the Kelsey road south of the city, having been ill ever since a stroke of apoplexy six weeks ago last Monday. He had had two slight strokes before that time. He was 68 years old at the time of death. Mr. Hamilton was born in Avon, Livingston county, New York, moving to Ronald township in this county with the family in 1864. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Hamilton, who took a farm in that township on their arrival here and lived there for some years, later buying a second farm, which became known as the Hamilton farm. After his father's death E. B. Hamilton bought out the share in this property which was received by the other heirs and occupied it for a number of years. Later he spent a year or two in town, and seven years ago, after his marriage, he moved to the farm in Ionia township where he died. On October 17, 1909, he married Miss Myrtle Wilcox, who survives him. A sister, Mrs. C.C. Curtis, of Valley City, North Dakota, and two brothers, Daniel Hamilton of Grand Rapids and J.H. Hamilton of this city, are also living. The funeral was conducted by Rev. A.R. Mitchell at the residence, Monday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock. Interment in Tuttle cemetery.
