Hamlin, age 79, passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2015. He was born on November 21, 1935 in Kalamazoo, MI the son of Arthur and Ruth (Han) Hamlin. Mr. Hamlin was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Korea, and was employed at TRW in Portland from 1960 until his retirement in 1996. Bruce was a member of the Portland United Methodist Church, where he served as lay reader, lay speaker, Sunday school teacher, and was a member of the Methodist Men. He also was a Little League coach, member of the Boy Scout Board, member of the Big Brothers and Big Sisters Board of Directors, President of the PFCU Board, and Life Member, International Brotherhood of Magicians. Bruce was an avid woodworker, having made several pieces of furniture for family members. Preceding him in death were his parents; aunt, Jeanette Hamlin; son-in-laws, Roger Price and Adam Schyllander. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Beverly; children, Timothy (Cindy) Hamlin of Indianapolis, IN, Terri Sue Price of Ypsilanti, Matthew (Marilyn) Hamlin of Holt, Jennifer Schyllander of Petersburg, and Mark (Andrea) Hamlin of Columbus, OH; grandchildren, Travis and Michensey Hamlin, Alaina (Joey) Scotto, Kaylee and Dominick Hamlin, Lindsey (Alex) Blakely, and Alice and Brian Schyllander; brother, Tom (Nina) Hamlin of Kalamazoo. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 27, 2015 at Lehman Funeral Homes, 210 E. Bridge Street, Portland, with Pastor Tish Bowman of the Portland United Methodist Church presiding. Interment will take place at Portland Cemetery, with Military Honors provided by the Portland VFW Post #4090. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Thursday at the funeral home. In Lieu of Flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Portland United Methodist Church, or the National Kidney Foundation, in memory of Bruce.
