The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Monday, August 24, 1953

William E. Hammer, 68, of Grand Rapids died Sunday night, August 23, at the 
home of his daughter, Mrs. Dwight Robson, of near Saranac where he was being 
cared for.

Surviving are the wife, Saide, of Grand Rapids; two daughters, Mrs. Robson of 
Saranac and Mrs. Roy Hardgrove of Ortonville; six sisters, Mrs. Delos Way of 
Ann Arbor, Mrs. Isaac Poulterman of Grand Rapids, Mrs. Dallas Kaiser of St. 
Johns, Mrs. Mary Gingrich and Mrs. Charles Goodar of Reed City and Mrs. 
Katherine Kanfield of Ada; a brother, Henry Hammer of Waukegon, Ill.; two step-
sons, Lawrence and Joseph Wall of Grand Rapids; and a step-daughter, Mrs. 
Blackie Hinshaw of Genoa, Ohio.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Morris 
funeral home in Saranac.  The Rev. Glen McCarty will officiate.  Interment 
will be in Saranac cemetery.
