H. Hammond, who has been confined to the bed practically all the time for the past four months suffering with cancer of the liver, passed away at the home in Lyons near Midnight Tuesday. funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at two o’clock from the M.E. church conducted by Rev. Chas Nease, and during the hour or the services the business places of the village will be closed. Interment in Lyons cemetery. ---- Margaret Chestina Craig was born at Nurie, Ontario, Canada, May 5, 1874, and lived with her parents until eighteen years of age when she was married to John Morrison. They lived in Woodstock, Ont., until she was left a widow in 1895. In 1914 she was united in marriage to Wm. H. Hammond at Norrton Alta, Canada, and a year later they moved to Pontiac, coming to Lyons about a year ago and opened a restaurant. She passed away May 23rd after an illness of several months. She was a dear wife and a loving mother, and leaves to mourn her departure a husband, mother, two sons, a daughter, an adopted son, a brother and eight sisters, the last named all of Canada. She was a member of Welcome Rebekah lodge No. 246 of Pontiac. Members of Beatrice Rebekah lodge No. 100 of Ionia had charge of the services at the grave, while Rev. Chas. Nease, assisted by Rev. Gerrard of Ionia conducted the services at the Lyons M.E. church Friday afternoon. Interment in Lyons cemetery.
