Hammond, 74, of route 1, Powell highway, died Thursday morning at Ionia county Memorial hospital where she had been a patient two weeks. Born in Pontiac, July 16, 1896, she was the daughter of Lewis D. and Cynthia Anne Wilder. She was married to Floyd E. Hammond, Sr., April 5, 1916 in Pontiac and had lived at her present address 34 years. They lived in Lyons six years where Mr. Hammond operated a meat market before moving to Montcalm County where they resided eight years. She was a member of First Baptist Church, life member of Order of Eastern Star, and past matron, past high priestess of Ionic White Shrine, past president Ronald Willing Workers, member of Ronald Grange, Ionia Farm Bureau and Pleasant Hill club. Surviving are her husband, Floyd E, Sr.; four sons, Kenneth E. of Ionia; Lewis W. of Albuquerque, N.M.; Floyd E., Jr., of Paulding and Milton E. of Woodard Lake; 20 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Hammond will be at Stone-Kauffman funeral home until noon Monday when she will be taken to First Baptist Church for services at 2 p.m. Rev. Gilbert Kohler will officiate and interment will be at Woodard Lake Cemetery. A memorial has been established for First Baptist church.
