Hammond, age 77, of 809 Harrison St., died Monday at United Memorial hospital, Greenville. Born April 26, 1887 in Greenville, Mr. Hammond had lived in Belding the past 52 years. He was a former employee at Belding-Hall Refrigerator and at Metal-Glass for 21 years until he retired in 1957. Mr. Hammond was a member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church and the Belding XYZ Club. His survivors include his wife, Ethel; one son, Earl (Tony) Hammond, R-1, Sydney; one step-daughter, Mrs. Kurt (Mary) Ziehm, Bensenville, Ill.; one step-son, William Byers, Belding; two grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday (today) at 1:30 p.m. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church with Pastor George W.E. Nickelsburg, Sr., officiating. Burial will be in Otisco cemetery. Pallbearers will be Harold Hansen, Paul Albrechtson, James Roderick, Bernie Brown, David Hall and Forrest Switzer. Mr. Hammond reposes at the Huffman Funeral Home.
