The funeral was held in the home where she died, on Sunday forenoon, and her remains brought to Lakeside cemetery, where they were interred beside those of her husband, who passed to the great beyond about 12 years ago. Since the death of her husband, Eber Hammond, the old lady has divided her time among her children, and only went to Vermontville for a short visit on the Monday before her death. At that time she appeared in fairly good health for a woman of 86 years. She as born in St. Lawrence County, New York. She moved to Michigan with her husband about 35 years ago, first settling on a farm in Vermontville, then a few years later sold the farm and moved on the farm northeast of town which has since been her home. To Mr. and Mrs. Hammond were born seven children, three preceding their mother to the grave. The four living are, Mrs. Mary Nead, living in Detroit; Chas. Hammond, living in Washington state, and Mark and Brose Hammond, of Lake Odessa. Mrs. Hammond was well known and as well liked in Odessa, and her sudden demise came as quite a surprise.
