Hammond was brought to Lyons Tuesday and funeral services held from the M.E. Church at 1:30, conducted by Rev. Geo. A. Brown. Interment was made in the family lot beside the husband in Lyons cemetery. Deceased came to Lyons soon after her marriage to Henry C. Hammond, and resided on the west side of the river for over fifty years in the house built by Mr. Hammond, and which burned down last spring. Mr. Hammond passed away in 1911, and since 1912, Mrs. Hammond had made her home with her children and at the home of a niece, where she died last Saturday. She is survived by two children, Walter of Battle Creek and Mrs. Thos. Steadman of Elsie. ---- Sarah E. Huston was born at Salem, Washtenaw county, Michigan, September 21, 1838. On April 23, 1862, she was united in marriage to Henry C. Hammon, who passed away May 19, 1911. Following her marriage they resided in a home, which they built on the west side of the river, until April 22, 1912, when she went to Battle Creek with her son, Walter T. Hammon, and later spent some time with a daughter, Mrs. Thos. Steadman, in Elsie. The past two years she has made her home with Mr. and Mrs. S.J. Carroll of near Carson City, where she passed away January 13th, 1917, following a short illness. Deceased had resided in Lyons for fifty-four years, and had a host of friends here who with the children mourn the loss of a very devoted and loving mother, and one who will long remain green in their memory. The funeral was held from the Lyons M.E. church on January 16th, Rev. Geo. A Brown officiating. Interment in the Lyons cemetery.
