She was born in Little Rock, Ark., March 1, 1897, the daughter of William and Edith McDonald Shumway. She was a graduate of Lake Odessa high school in 1916 and lived in the locality most of her life. She spent 35 years with her husband Charles on a farm northwest of Lake Odessa, moving to the village 14 years ago. She was a member of Lake Odessa Methodist church, Blue Star Mothers, Lake Odessa barracks auxiliary, Recreation club, Hospital guild, American Legion auxiliary and at the time of her death had an office in the eighth district Legion auxiliary. She leaves her husband Charles, three sons, Roger of Lake Odessa, Donald of Grand Ledge and Robert of Saranac; two daughters, Mrs. Robert Bopp of Grand Ledge and Mrs. Fred Courtney of Hastings; 14 grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren. Funeral services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Pickens funeral chapel in Lake Odessa with Rev. Marvin Zimmerman officiating. Interment will be in Lakeside cemetery.
