Portland Observer, 18 Sep 1895

Mrs. John Hanby died at her home in this village on Friday morning last, aged 39 
years.  Deceased had been a great sufferer, and for a short time previous to her 
death, especially, her sufferings had been almost beyond endurance.  In the early 
spring she went to Detroit and underwent a surgical operation, which for a time 
gave her great relief, but only for a few weeks.  Besides a husband she leaves 
four children.  She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Boyden of this village.  
Funeral services were conducted from her late home on Sunday afternoon last, Rev. 
French officiating.
