Hanchett died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Jas. Wescott, in Bushnell, Sunday, aged 83 years and 6 months. Mr. Hanchett settled in Palo in 1870, where he lived eight years, when he moved to Bushnell and lived on a farm till his wife died in 1887 (after having lived together for 54 years.) He tried living alone for a while, but soon sold his farm and has since lived most of the time with his son Joseph. He had been in Nebraska during the winter with a son, only returning a short time ago as it were to die. Mr. Hanchett was a man of sterling character; firm in what he believed to be right; always lived an upright life; scarcely sick a day in his life, able to help himself up to the very last. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in Palo, conducted by Rev. O. J. Golden.
