Richard ‘Dick’ Joseph Hanchett, 64, of Muir, loving husband, father, and
grandfather passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Wednesday,
October 25, 2006.  Born June 5, 1942 in Lansing, Michigan, and served in the
United State Marines for four years.  Richard retired from Ameritech in 1994
after 30 years and served many positions with Communications Workers of America
Local # 4040.  For over 30 years, Richard held many positions in Scouting, was
Scoutmaster of Troop 225 of Lansing and Assistant Scoutmaster of Troop 85 in
Ionia.  He was a member of the Brotherhood of the Order of the Arrow, Nacha
Tindey Lodge of Gerald R. Ford Council.  Richard was an active youth leader,
member of Lyons-Muir Church; enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and the outdoors.

Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Carol; son, Scott (Kim) Hanchett of
Charlotte; daughter, Julie (Charles) Clayton of Muir; brother, James Hanchett of
Cadillac; proud grandfather of 10 grandchildren; and a large loving family and
many friends.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 30, 11 a.m. at the Lyons-Muir
Church, Muir, Michigan with Pastor Bert Nelson, officiating.  Interment will be
held in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Lansing.  The family will receive friends
at the Gorsline-Runciman Funeral Homes, 205 E. Washington, DeWitt Sunday from 2
to 4 p.m. and to 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday at the Church 1 hour prior to the
service.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lyons-Muir Church
Bell Tower Fund or Sparrow Hospice Services, P. O. Box 30480, Lansing, MI 48909
in memory of Richard Hanchett.
