Hasting's Reminder - Saturday February 9, 2008

                                 Leah V.Hand

BATTLE CREEK - Leah V.Hand age 91, of Battle Creek, formerly of Lake Odessa, 
passed away on Wednesday, February 6,2008 at Lifespan Hospice Residence, in the 
company of her five daughters and their husbands.

She was born November 24, 1916 in Ionia County to Homer and Ruby (Thomas) 
Klingman. She graduated from Battle Creek Central high school in 1934.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Voight Klingman and her 
husband of 67 years, Lester Hand.

Surviving are her five daughters and sons-in-law, Beverly and Thomas Williams of 
Marshall, Wanda and Ronald Yaudes of Cary< N.C, Sherill and Morris Rausch of 
Kissimmee, Fl.,Sandra and Robert West of Lansing, and Carolyn and James Humeston 
of Battle Creek, plus 15 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and three great-
great-grandchildren.

She had worked at the former Oliver Corporation. She retired from Calhoun 
Federal Savings and Loan, which later became Great Lakes Bancorp.

She and Lester were very active at the Battle creek Church of the Brethren, 
where she served as a deacon and was music leader and choir director for over 60 
years. When her daughters were young, she was a leader in Bluebirds and Camp 
Fire Girls.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 9, 2008 at the 
Farley-Estes & Dowdle Funeral Home, with Pastor Bob Heine of the Central 
Christian Church officiating. A committal service will follow at Floral Lawn 
Memorial Gardens Chapel.
