Martha Charlene Handing, age 68, of Battle Creek, passed away Oct. 23, 2015. 
She was born Dec. 23, 1946, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Chauncy and
Viola (Seaton) Schneider.  Martha went on to marry Harold Handing Dec. 15, 1967,
in Chicago.  He preceded her in death Sept. 19, 2015.  Martha was a member of
Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Lowell.

Surviving are her children, Patricia Lightner of Arizona, Donna Owen and fiance
Jeremy Hadix of Saranac and Harry (Amanda) Handing of Ionia; grandchildren,
Amber (Matt) Sheppard of Battle Creek, Tamber (James) Philpott of Greenville,
Tianna Owen and fiance Jordan Strunk of Saranac, Tony Owen of Saranac, Branden
Bayles of Arizona, Courtney (Bucky) Donaldson of Arizona, Montana Handing of
Ionia and Bethany Handing of Ionia; and 13 great grandchildren.  Survivors also
include siblings Billy, Daniel, Johnny, Joyce, Harriet, Marrianne, Marie, Flora
and Roberta.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harold, brother Chauncey and
sister Lois.

Funeral services for Mrs. Handing will be held Thursday, 12 noon at the Good
Shepherd Lutheran Church in Lowell with Pastor Joe Fremer officiating. 
Interment Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Grand Rapids.  Visitation will be on
Thursday 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church.  Arrangements by Lake
Funeral Home in Saranac.  Those wishing may make memorial contributions to Good
Shepherd Lutheran Church or Great Lakes Hospice.
