Helen Louise Handlon, 83, of Ionia passed away Dec. 2, 2015, in Grand Rapids. 
She was born May 13, 1932, in Brooksburg, Indiana, the daughter of Robert and
Mildred (Vaughn) Paul.  She married Thomas Handlon April 29, 1950, in Madison,
Indiana, and he preceded her in death Nov. 23, 2009.  Helen was a member of the
First Congregational Church in Portland.  She loved to craft and garden.

Helen is survived by her children, Liz (John) Clark of Grand Ledge, Cathy
(Robert) Beard of Ionia, Thomas E. Handlon Jr. of Ionia and Daniel (Pamela)
Handlon of Ionia; brothers, Robert (Brenda) Paul of North Carolina, Ronald
(Karen) Jones of Kentucky, and James (Barbara) Jones of Kentucky; sisters, Jean
Burkhart of Florida, Alice Miller of California, Mary Ann Aldridge of Florida,
Virginia Chapman of Indiana and Linda Jones of Indiana; grandchildren, Teresa,
John Jr., Carrie, Chris, Casey and Erika; and great grandchildren Janel, Paige,
Sidney, Mariah, Bryce, Haley, Cole, Isiah, Sawyer and Kaya.  

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Thomas; and brothers, Harold
and Donald Paul.

Funeral Services will be held Monday 11 a.m. at the Lake Funeral Home in Ionia
with Pastor Marilyn Danielson officiating.  Interment Balcom Cemetery. 
Visitation will be on Sunday 2-5 p.m. at the Funeral Home.  Those wishing may
make memorial contributions to Portland First Congregational Church Food Pantry.
