Haney, 78, of Hallandale, FL, formerly of Lake Odessa, went to be with his Lord on June 12, 2009. Max was born on March 7, 1932 to Claude and Harriet Haney of Lake Odessa. He attended Lake Odessa schools, and married his high school sweetheart, Janet Kimmel on April 21, 1951. Max worked at Mitchell-Bentley in Ionia for 15 years and then worked at Keeler Brass in Lake Odessa for 20 years. He was a member of the Moose Lodge of Hastings and was a board member at the Fairways Royale in Hallandale and captain of the building for 20 years. He also worked security for the Hemispheres Condo Association of Hallandale. Max was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother. He was a good friend to others, known for the many kind deeds he did for other residents of his condo. He loved the outdoors and loved to walk and swim and just spend quality time with his loving wife, Janet. He also enjoyed nature and was an avid bird and deer watcher. Max was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Ralph, Mike and Donald and sisters, Barbara and Yvonne. Also, a son-in-law, Joe Avillar. Surviving are his loving wife of 58 years, Janet; his sons, Max (Coni) Haney of Freeport, Michael Kim (Lisa) Haney of Conroe, TX, Robert Haney of Hallandale, FL and Nancy (Chuck) Hardin of Conroe, TX. Surviving grandchildren are Joey Avillar, Christine Avillar, Janet Haney, Mandy Haney, Danielle Haney, Kyle Haney, Jordy Haney, Audri Haney, Dennis Harwood, Jodi Harwood. There are six great grandchildren surviving. There will be no services but a celebration of life was held in Hallandale, FL on Wednesday, June 17, 2009 with another to be held in Michigan at a later date. Any memorial contributions can be made in Max’s honor to the Grand Rapids Eagles Disabled Sports Team, of which one of his grandsons is an athlete or to an organization of one’s choice.
