Haney, 91, formerly an Easton Township resident, died Sunday, Aug. 21 in San Francisco, Calif. She was born May 9, 1897, in Easton Township, the daughter of Frank E. and Cora Smith Jinks. She attended Haynor School and Ionia High School and was married to Herman Haney Nov. 9, 1915. They lived and farmed on Haynor Road until his death on March 11, 1976. She was a member of the Haynor school board, Banner Grange and the Stevens Thompson Mason Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution. Surviving are three sons, Melvin Haney of San Francisco; Dale Haney of Ionia; and Marvin Haney of Belding; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, two brothers, a sister, and a daughter Beatrice Hawkins. Funeral services will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday from the Cook Funeral Home, with the Rev. Kendall Harger officiating. Burial will be in Easton Cemetery. The family will be at the Rich Street Chapel Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. A memorial for the American Cancer Society has been established, in care of the funeral home.
