Janet was born on Jan. 9, 1933 to Beulah (Spitzer) and Alva Kimmel. She married the love of her life, Max Haney, in 1951. Janet lovingly raised three boys and one girl and was a wonderful wife and mother, kind and affectionate. She was a great cook, made the best potato salad and could always make room for one more at her dining room table. Janet also loved to sing and play her organ and even played publicly when she was younger. Janet and her sister, Helen, were well known for their harmonizing. She was always there for her family and friends, to lend a helping hand. Janet also loved to go out to eat with friends and go to musical shows and plays. Whenever struggle came, she faced it with a great inner strength that was remarkable for such a tender soul. She had a beautiful smile. She will be deeply missed by all those who loved her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Max, and her sisters, Dawn Cramer, Helen Austin, Mary Jane McClelland; her brother, Bob Kimmel; and her grandson, Jordy Haney. Surviving are her children, Max (Coni) Haney of Freeport, Michael Kim (Lisa) Haney of Conroe, TX, Robert Haney of Port St. Joe, FL and Nancy (Chuck) Hardin of Baytown, TX. Also her grandchildren, Joey Avillar, Janet (Eric) Buhman, Mandy Haney, Kyle Haney, Danielle (Justin) Gourley, Audri Haney, Jodi (Dennis) Harwood and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A small memorial service will be held in Plantersville, TX on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014 and in Michigan at a later date. Any memorial contributions may be made to the St. Edward Catholic Church in Lake Odessa or to the charity of one’s choice.
