She was born near Smyrna, Oct. 3, 1855 the daughter of William and Abigail Douglas. On Dec. 25, 1876 she was married to Frank D. Ingalls of Smyrna and to this union two daughters were born, Mrs. Ila Clark of Belding and Mrs. Lucy Gardner of Smyrna. On Thanksgiving Day 1906 she was married to George Hanks, Smyrna resident who preceded her in death 16 years ago. Mrs. Hanks had spent her entire lifetime in and around Smyrna with the exception of the last 12 winters which she spent at the Soldier’s Home in Grand Rapids. She is survived by the two daughters, five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and a brother, Newton Douglas aged 84 years. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Fitzjohn Funeral home. Rev. H.S. Ellis was the officiating clergyman and burial was made at Smyrna. Pallbearers were Clare Norton, Milo Richmond, Fred Dumon, Howard Insley and Louis Peterson.
