Ionia Sentinel Standard, 4 Feb 1941

Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m. in Belding for Mrs. Ada Hanks, 85,
widow of George Hanks, civil war veteran, who died at the Soldiers’ home in
Grand Rapids Friday.  Mrs. Hanks was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William
Douglas and was born near Smyrna, October 3, 1855.  She was married to George
Hanks in 1906, his death occurring in 1924.  Surviving are two daughters, Mrs.
Ila Clark and Mrs. Vergil Gardner, of Smyrna and one brother, Milton Douglas, of
Belding.
