Ionia Sentinel Standard, 14 Dec 1978

Ira “Bill” Hanline, 59, 479 Price Street, Ionia died suddenly at his home 
Thursday morning.  He was born May 6, 1919, son of Thomas and Ellen Mitchell 
Hanline.  He attended Ionia high school and served in the US Army in Europe 
during WWII.  Following his service in the army he returned to Ionia where he 
has made his home since.

He worked at Ypsilanti Reed and its successor firm, Ionia Manufacturing until 
1964.  He then started work at the American Auto Felt Plant, Lyons and 
continued working there after being sold to Chrysler.  In 1974 he retired as 
foreman from Chrysler Trim Plant, Lyons.  

He married Annette Farra, March 17, 1974 in Ionia.

Survivors include his wife, Farra; son Thomas of Ionia; two daughters, Mrs. 
Larry (Beverly) Shattuck, Ionia; Lori Hanline, Ionia; three step-daughters, 
Mrs. Dale (Hilarie) Bresky of Grand Rapids; Mrs. Thomas (Michelle) Curley, 
Cannonsburg; Mrs. Glenn (Suzanne) Deming, Ft. Huachau, Ariz.; one brother, 
George of Ionia; one sister, Mrs. John (Patty) Shamp of Ionia; eight 
grandchildren.  A son, Richard, preceded him in death November 6, 1976.

Funeral services will be a 2 p.m. Saturday from the Leddick funeral home.  Rev. 
Ronald Dow of the First Christian church will officiate.  Burial will be in 
Sunset Memorial Gardens.  The family will be at the funeral home Thursday and 
Friday from 7-9 p.m. to receive friends and relatives.  A memorial fund has 
been established for the Coronary Care Unit of the Ionia county memorial 
hospital.
