Answering a 2 a.m. knock on the door at this home Hansbarger opened a door and fell down stairs when he missed his footing. He suffered a head injury from which he did not recover. He was taken to Grand Rapids St. Marys hospital where he died several hours later. Cause of death had not yet been announced by the Kent county coroner’s office Monday morning. He was born in Ionia, May 22, 1925, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Chester Hansbarger. He was a graduate of Ionia high school, graduate of Ferris State college in 1948 and served in the U.S. Navy in the Asiatic, Pacific and European theaters of World War II. April 1, 1960 he became owner of Hansbarger Airstream Trailer sales and April 15, 1966 he started Hansbarger Airstream Trailer sales in Wyoming, formerly Bud’s Trailer sales. He was still owner of the Trailer sales in Ionia. Mr. Hansbarger was a member of Ionia Elks 548, former vice president of Travelers Protective association chapter, in Grand Rapids, member of Daniel Waters Cassard post 208, American Legion in Kent county, member of Western Michigan Trailer Dealers association, and Wally Byam Caravan club, units. He is survived by his wife Alberta L. Hansbarger of Grand Rapids; a son William F. Hansbarger; two daughters Vicki A. and Susan L. Hansberger all of Ionia; his parents Mr. and Mrs. Chester J. Hansbarger of Lake Odessa; three sisters, Mrs. Marvin Loper of Belding, Mrs. Ward Watson of Portland, Oregon and Mrs. Benson Sage of Ionia. He is at the Van Strien-Alman Mortuary, 1833 Plainfield, NE, Grand Rapids. Funeral services will Thursday at 1 p.m. at Van Strien-Alman funeral home with Rev. James Kendall of First Christian church in Ionia officiating and interment in Lake Odessa cemetery.
