After several years of failing health, Harley J. Hansbarger died suddenly at his home here Saturday morning. Although his passing was a shock to his family, it was as he had previously expressed a desire for it to be. The funeral was held at the Central Methodist church Monday afternoon and was largely attended The pastor, the Rev. Myron I.Hoyt, officiated and the Rev. and Mrs.Donald J.Holbrook furnished the music. Interment was made in Lakeside cemetery. Among those from out of town who were in attendance at the funereal were Mr and Mrs Melvin Chapin and Mr and Mrs Warren Rogers of Portland. Mr and Mrs Charles Gregg and Mrs Grace Ackerson of Sunfield. James Shaw of Grand Ledge, Mr and Mrs.Joseph A.Hansbarger of Ionia, Plennie Hansbarger of Woodland, Mrs.Leia Logan of Detroit and a very large number of more distant relatives. OBITUARY OF HARLEY HANSBARGER Harley J. Hansbarger, second son of Jerry and Samantha Hansbarger, was born in Tiffin Ohio, on March 28,1877, and passed away at Lake Odessa on September 2, 1944, at the age of 67 years, five months and four days. He came to Lake Odessa with his parents at the age of five years. At the age of 24 he married Miss Jennie Shaw of Lake Odessa. To this union 10 children were born, Murray in Lake Odessa, Mrs Ethel David in Woodland, Harold in Detroit, Mrs. Audrey Barker in Grand Ledge, Mrs.Violet Tabatto at Grand Ledge, Mrs Gavin Burrows in Ionia, Harley K. Jr. at Ypsilanti, and Mrs Jennie Tasker in Grand Ledge, Bruce and Vinton preceded him in death in infancy. He was a kind loving husband and father, ever ready and willing to help others in time of need. His kindness to others won love in the hearts fo all who knew him. He was a member of the local Odd fellow Lodge for over 30 years. He leaves to mourn their loss, a loving and devoted wife and eight children, 11 grandchildren and four brothers, William in Lake Odessa, Plennie at Woodland Joseph, Arthur at Ionia, Nelson in Lake Odessa, and a host of other relatives and friends who will long cherish his memory.
