Lake Odessa Wave-Thurs.February 24, 1966

Services Held for Harold A. Hansbarger

Harold A. Hansbarger, 6, rte.2, Jordan Lake Hwy., passed away Friday at 
Butterworth Hospital,Grand Rapids, after a short illness.

A native of Lake Odessa he was the son of Harley and Jennie Hansbarger and a 
1925 graduate of the Lake Odessa High School. He left here for Detroit after 
graduation and married Neva Classic in 1926.

Harold worked for Michigan Bell Telephone Co. for about 20 years and was co-
owner of a drug store in Detroit with his wife. In 1946 they returned to Lake 
Odessa and purchased the Frank Smelker drug store which they operated until they 
sold the business in 1961 to Malcolm Tasker. He later was employed by the Lass 
Sales & Service as a car salesman.

Mr. Hansbarger was a member of the Congregational Church., Lions Club and F & AM 
Lodge.

Surviving are his wife, a daughter Mrs.Gerard (Lucille) Bosscher of Grand 
Rapids, three grandchildren, five sisters,Mrs.Jesse (Ethel) Gavit, Mrs.Stanley 
(Violet) Tabatto and Mrs.Louis (Jennie) Tasker of Grand Ledge, Mrs. Gerald 
(Audrey) Barker of Belding and Mrs. Henry (Gaylia) Burrows of Rockford and two 
brothers Murray of rural Lake Odessa and Harley of Grand Rapids.

Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Pickens Funeral Chapel with 
burial in Lakeside cemetery. Rev. Paul Bennehoff officiated.

A memorial fund is being established and contributions may be left at Pickens 
Chapel.
