Hansen, 88, of Greenville, died Sunday, Sept. 18, 2005, at Metron of Greenville. He was born March 4, 1917, in Langston, the son of Herbert and Elva Hinkley Hansen. He was retired from Federal Mogul Corp. after 38 years of service. El was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army’s 88th Infantry Division with The Blue Devils. He was a member of the VFW Lakeview Post, a member of the Greenville Masonic Lodge and enjoyed ice fishing, and feeding and watching the birds. He loved to travel, especially to the reunions of The Blue Devils Infantry meetings having returned to Italy in 1971 with the unit to march the trails taken in those battles. He was married on June 5, 1945, to Elsie L. Harris and she preceded him in death on Jan. 31, 2004. He was also preceded by his brother, Marvin Hansen. He is survived by his daughter, Colleen Hansen; his son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Connie Hansen; grandchildren, Adam Hansen and Leah Hansen, both of Greenville; his sisters, Betty Lewis of Pittsburgh, Pa., Norma Larsen of Coral; his brother, Russell Hansen of Trufant; several nieces and nephews. Visitation is 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville. There will be no funeral service. Burial is in Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding. Memorial contributions may be given to the Flat River Community Library or the American Cancer Society.
