The daughter of Landon E. and Carrie A. Bissell Houle, she was born Aug. 3, 1912, in Greenville. A lifelong Greenville area resident, she graduated from Greenville High School in 1930. On Sept. 20, 1930, she married local builder and carpenter L.J. Hansen, who preceded her in death on Oct. 16, 1974. Her grandchildren were her life and she also loved to dance, shop for bargains, eat out and drive her car every day of the week. Helene loved her home, her flowers and birds and loved to cook for her family. On Dec. 20, 1975, she married Allan Dietrick, who preceded her in death on Oct. 18, 1993. She was a regular part of the family of Faith Baptist Church in Greenville. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, L.J. Hansen and Allan Dietrick; two brothers, Landon E. “Bud” Houle Jr., and Charles Ellis Houle; and sister, Leta Holdaway. She is survived by two sons and their wives, Roger and Mary Beth Hansen of Sebring, Fla., Duane O. “Duke” and Elaine Hansen of Greenville; grandchildren, Jane and Steve Swayze, Cheryl Boughner, Fred and Gayle Hansen, Sheila and Randy Dobben, Nels and Lori Hansen, Gary Hansen, Chris and Dottie Hansen, Carrie and Derek Syrjala, Simeon Hansen; great-grandchildren, Jessica and Taylor Swayze, Jess and Betsy Boughner, Emily, Landon, Graham, Abigail, Phillip, Samuel, Esther, Ayden, Meredith and Gavin Hansen, R.J., Rebecca, Luke and Sophia Dobben, Kristen, Anna, Peter, Eric, Danny, Julia Helene, Lena and Ditte Hansen, Charlie, Hugh, Ty, Casey, Natalie, Jonathan and Joshua Hansen, Parker, Calvin, Emma and Addison Syrjala; and two sisters-in-law, Betty Houle of Greenville and Viola Walker of Ann Arbor, formerly of Greenville. No services will take place at this time and a memorial service will be announced at a future date. Burial is in Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding. Visitation with the family is from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Brown-Teman & Christiansen Funeral Home, 511 S. Franklin St., Greenville. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Helene may be directed to the organ fund at Faith Baptist Church, 315 N.
