Hanson, age 86, of Bloomfield Hills, Passed away Thursday, February 11, 1999 at Botsford Hospital, Farmington Hills. He was born September 21, 1912 in Clarksville, the son of Bert and Gladys (Custer) Hanson. He attended Michigan State University on an athletic scholarship. While on the MSU campus, Frank enrolled in the R.O.T.C. program and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant upon graduation. He went to work of Michigan Bell. However, he was almost immediately called to active duty and for over five years, he served in the Army during World War II. He was in the Intelligence Corps and spent most of the war in London, England. At the end of the war, he was a Lieutenant Colonel. While in London, Frank met a lovely young lady named Daphne Campbell from Johannesburg, South Africa who was there driving Red Cross ambulances. Daphne and Frank were married in London, England at the end of the war. Frank’s tenure with Michigan Bell was interrupted again, when he was called to serve during the Korean War. At the time of Frank’s retirement from Michigan Bell in 1974, he was assistant secretary and assistant treasurer of the company. Frank was always an excellent athlete, he excelled in baseball and basketball in his youth. In later years, he became an avid golfer and tennis player. He was preceded in death by his two brothers, Dale and Bert Hanson; and sister, Mildred (Midge) Haight. He is survived by his wife, Daphne Hanson; brother, Gilbert Hanson; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside Services for Mr. Hanson were held Monday, February 15, 1999 at the Clarksville Cemetery, Reverend Troy Rininger officiated. Arrangements were made by Koops Funeral Chapel, Clarksville.
