W. Hanson, died at her home in Sebewa Monday afternoon, March 4 of pulmonary consumption with which she has suffered for years being confined to her bed since the first of December. Emily Caroline York, was born in Easton township, Ionia county, December 3, 1846, married to W. W. Hanson at Porter, VanBuren county, Mich., December 17, 1865, came to Ionia county 1884, where they have since resided with the exception of one year’s residence in Missouri. She was a member of the Universalist church at Portland. Mr. and Mrs. Hanson were the parents of six children, five of whom are living – Mrs. Barney Oatley and Mrs. Fred Reed, of Sebewa, Mrs. Burton Aldrich and Mrs. Glen France, of Portland, and Edwin living at home. Three brothers and one sister, Zachariah of Ann Arbor, Stephen and Elias of Sebewa, and Mrs. Mary Curtiss of Berlin, survive her. Funeral from the Center M. E. Church at 11:00 o’clock Thursday, March 7. Burial at Baptist cemetery.
