He died at his home in Carson City, Michigan April 27, 1931 at the age of 76 years, 8 months and 18 days. Mr. Harden came to Michigan with his parents in 1866. For a short time the family lived near Ionia, but later they moved to a farm in North Shade township, Gratiot county. On August 26, 1884 he was married to Mary Ellen O’Connell at St. Johns church, Hubbardston. To this union were born three children, Mary, Louis and Clare. In 1893 Mr. Harden came to Carson City where he engaged in business and lived until the time of his death. The funeral services were held in St. Mary’s church Wednesday, April 29. Rev. Timothy O’Connell, brother-in-law of the deceased chanted the requiem high mass for the dead. Rev. P.A. O Toole, pastor preached the funeral sermon. He took as his text The First Epistle of St. Peter the Apostle Chapter 11-11: Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims to refrain yourselves from worldly desires that war against the soul. Burial was in the family lot, St. Johns cemetery, Hubbardston. Mr. Harden leaves to mourn his loss his widow, one daughter, two sons, one brother, and several nieces and nephews.
