Dorothy Irene Harder, aged 84, of Portland, passed away on Friday, September 3, 
2004 at 5:20 a.m. from heart complications.  She had been very ill for the past 
two months.

She was born on June 6, 1920 the daughter of Howard and Mabel (Snyder) 
Reynolds.  Mrs. Harder was a homemaker as well as a member of the LeValley 
United Methodist Church in Ionia.

Dorothy also took pride in assisting her husband and children on the family 
farm.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harrison on October 
7, 1990; two brothers, Charles and Raymond Reynolds.

Surviving are two daughters, Rosemary Harder of Portland and Alice (David) 
Dexter of Lake George; three sons, Howard (Dorothy) Harder, Fred Harder and 
Lawrence (Betty) Harder, all of Portland; eight grandchildren; two step-
grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; three brothers, Don Reynolds, Duane 
(Bernita) Reynolds and Keith (Emma) Reynolds; sister, Ethel (Bob) Ryan; many 
nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be conducted by the Rev. Mark Johnson, Pastor of 
LeValley United Methodist Church, at 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 7, 2004, at the 
Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge St., Portland.  Interment will 
follow at Tuttle Cemetery, Ionia.  The family will receive friends at the 
funeral home from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Monday.
