Hardy, of Ionia passed away Monday, May 27, 2002, at Heartland Health Care Center in Ionia. She was born Oct. 2, 1926, in Bloomfield Township, the daughter of Clifford and Viola (Main) Kimball. Ella graduated from Belding High School in 1944 and she attended Montcalm Community College. She worked at Trojan Knitting Mills in Ionia; and then worked for more than 40 years at Ionia County National Bank as vice president. Ella was very active in the United Way. She taught lessons as an artist and she enjoyed woodworking. She loved the outdoors and animals. She loved to serve senior citizens. Surviving are her father, Clifford Kimball of Ionia; two grandsons, Christopher and Justin Hardy; five nieces and nephews; six great-nieces and nephews; and cousins. She was preceded in death by her mother, Viola Kimball in 1992; and one brother, Leon Kimball in 1994. Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Monday at the Cook Funeral Home in Ionia with Rev. Robert Nixon officiating. Graveside services will be 3 p.m., Monday at Orleans Cemetery. Visiting hours are 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Sunday at the Rich Street Chapel of Cook Funeral Home in Ionia. Memorial contributions can be made to the Ionia Area Hospice or the Ionia County Commission on Aging in care of the funeral home.
