Mr. Hargrave who was born in Wakesha county, Wis., came to Michigan when about 20 years of age, making his home with his sister, Mrs. Sarah McCarty, until his marriage to Mary E. Holmon in 1880. Shortly after they settled on the farm which has since been their home, cutting down the trees to set the house and gradually clearing the rest. Mr. Hargrave had been in failing health for more than a year and besides the widow, two sons, Roy, who is at home and Lee, two sisters, Mrs. Sarah McCarty, of Ionia, and Mrs. Mary Judevine, of Palo, two brothers, Alfred Hargrave of Wisconsin, and Dr. F.A. Hargrave, of Palo, one granddaughter, besides many distant relatives are left to mourn his loss. He was buried in the North Plains cemetery.
