Marlene was truly one of a kind, A vibrant, fiercely loving woman whose presence lit up every room she entered. Her love ran deep and her loyalty even deeper. Marlene was the proud and devoted wife of Michael Brian Harkey, with whom she built a beautiful life full of laughter, love, and shared dreams. She was the heart, soul, master chef, best wife and dog mama who loved swimming in her pool, playing fortnight with her kids, being the best Gigi, taking care of her plants that all had their own names and did I mention master chef-of her family. Marlene will forever be cherished and missed by her beloved children and their spouses; daughter Lorraine and spouse Rodney, son Joshua and spouse Grace, son Gabriel and spouse Kendal and son Brandon. Her legacy continues through her precious grandchildren: Mateo, Emilia, Kolbie, and Kayce, who were the absolute light of her life. Marlene was the adored daughter of Lorraine McMillen and Donald Zelmer, and also held a cherished bond with her step-parents, Don Garlock and Kay Zelmer, and parents-in-law, Joseph and Patricia Harkey. She will also be forever remembered by her brother, Bryon Zelmer, brother-in-law, Rick Harkey and wife, Carolyn. She was loved and admired by so many more including all of her extended family, her lifelong friends who have never left her side, her colleagues and her next- door neighbors who became like family over the years. Those who knew Marlene will never forget her striking beauty, her sharp wit, her unwavering honesty, and her Type A spirit that made her a force to be reckoned with. She lived life on her terms, full throttle, full of fire, and with a heart that knew no limits when it came to those she loved. Her "tell-it-like-it-is" personality was as refreshing as it was unforgettable, and her passionate loved left a mark on everyone lucky enough to receive it. A beautiful Celebration of Life will be held in the coming weeks. Details will be shared with family and friends soon. In honor o Marlene, and for those who have asked and wish to show support, contributions are welcome and appreciated. A QR code and Zelle Phone number for an account sent directly to Brian are listed for those who feel called to give but your thoughts, prayers, and love already do mean the world. The outpour of kind words and condolences from our community has been a tremendous comfort to our family. Marlene's spirit, strength, and love will live on in all of us.
